Township Kirkwood Addo and Schotia Park
"wild animals" was on the daily program. We had booked on the recommendation of our B & B in Swellendam a combined tour with Addo and Schotia Park. Addo Elephant Park is a state Park, in the almost extinct elephant protection and back propagated. The public part of the park can be traveled by car to asphatierten streets. A closed section is reserved for lodge guests and to the north, there is a 4x4 unit. The Schotia Park is the oldest private park and now in its sixth generation in the same family. In Schotia visitors to umgbeuaten Land Rovers are part of the daring runs on the road. In Schotia, there are no elephants. Therefore, we have first made a tour of the morning by the Schotia the VW bus, and then move to the right adjacent Schotia. Always impressive are the images of the elephant. How they act in the herd and look after the kids. We could even touch before, and meet up close. In virtually the wild, they are particularly impressive. In
Schotia then we switched from air-conditioned VW bus on Land-Rover with a raised design with seats for passengers. On to some adventurous ways it went through the park, which is the Landy and our experienced and friendly guide Andrew testing and demanding skill. The Tour of Schotia was almost like a big-game hunting. In the park, the animals migrate naturally and in contrast to the other parks in which we were previously, are the lions in the park freely move and hunt their food themselves, like all the other animals. Therefore, one can see regularly hunted or bones of dead animals. Very problematic is the current drought. It is so dry in 40 years no longer know what is the park with his animals with very special challenges. On the "hunt" for the animals we are back and forth across the park "gerovert. We were rewarded by encounters with giraffes, antelopes, springbok, wild boar and numerous Rhinos. With the onset of dusk then the great hunt started on the Lions. With all the jeeps was wanted by them. By radio, the drivers are connected to each other to report visible animals. Finally, the message came over the radio "We have fond the Lions. "Unfortunately, we were just in a different corner of the park road. Andrew was electrified and in a wild ride, it went across en Park to the reported location. I had all the trouble to stay on the seat and some acquaintance with the car roof could not be avoided, unfortunately. But then they came in sight of the lions.
you were surrounded already by three jeeps. What they are, however, used obviously. see really impressive these magnificent animals so close. They were a little sleepy, they rest but 20 hours from the day. The female in the group hunts and takes care of the lions are correct Nachwuchs.Männliche Pasha that supply from the ladies and treatments. After the "Lion Hunt" there was a delicious dinner in the park in an authentic location. Then it went under a fantastic sky by our standards very late at 22:00 clock back to our B & B Lemon3Lodge. Here, we were excited about our stories, for this tour knew our Dutch B & B hosts yet. With this we will visit the following day the township, where they have launched an initiative for AIDS orphans. We are very excited about this other, very sad side of South Africa know.
The online album is updated with a small selection of pictures from the parks.
